Evan Guerra has been chosen to receive the Lucille M. Wert Scholar Award for 2026. He has a Bachelor’s degree in computer science from Evergreen State College in Washington and a Master’s degree in information science from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. He is currently enrolled as a PhD student at the University of Illinois Urbana- Champaign and is a visiting student at the Monell Chemical Senses Center.

His Master’s work centered on cataloging and digitizing information in the Monell Center’s smell and taste-centered library and data archives to make it more accessible to those doing research in chemosensation, whereas his PhD studies involve collaborating with biochemists, organic chemists, flavor scientists and neuroscientists on interdisciplinary applications of artificial intelligence tools to taste and smell perception.

Evan was presented with his award by CINF Division Chair Meghan Lafferty on August 23rd at the Division of Chemical Information’s welcome reception at the National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Chicago IL. Please join us in congratulating him on this recognition of his work.
