If you have been considering getting more active in the American Chemical Society’s Division of Chemical Information (CINF), now is a great time to volunteer! Each year, we hold an election for division officers and make new appointments to committees for the following calendar year.
Leadership nominees must be division members in good standing (join CINF today!), but have no other prerequisites. Brief descriptions of elected officer responsibilities and the charges for each committee are available at further down on this page.
We are currently seeking nominations for the following elected offices with terms beginning January 1, 2026. These positions serve as members of the CINF Executive Committee and play a crucial role in the functioning of the division. Nominees for elected offices must be current members of the Division. For elected officer positions, we also request a brief biography and candidate statement (about 1 paragraph) for the CINF election ballot.
Chair-Elect (3 year term: Chair-Elect 2026, Chair 2027, Past-Chair 2028)
Secretary (2 year term: 2026-2027)
Councilor (3 year term: 2026-2028)*
Alternate Councilor (3 year term: 2026-2028)*
*For the offices of Councilor and Alternate Councilor, the candidate with the highest share of votes will be elected Councilor and the candidate with the second highest share of votes will be elected Alternate Councilor.
We are also inviting nominations for appointed positions in CINF Committees with terms beginning in January 2026. Committee appointments serve a 1 year term that is renewable (up to 3 years) if you wish to continue serving. If you indicate interest in a committee appointment, a member of the CINF leadership team will follow up with you to discuss joining the team. No prior volunteer experience with CINF is required to serve — committees are a great way to get involved for both new and experienced volunteers!

This committee has been mostly inactive since the pandemic – however, we intend to revitalize this committee and develop new opportunities for students and professionals to network and grow professionally.
This committee manages communication to CINF membership and the greater chemical sciences community, including publishing the Chemical Information Bulletin (CIB), managing social media presence, ensuring the website is up-to-date, and other communications projects. Committee members include members of the CIB, social media managers, marketing developers, and others who want to improve communication to the membership.
