Sara Rouhi and Scott Taylor will present a webinar entitled “Altmetrics in practice: How one university is using Altmetric data across campus” at the next Division of Chemical Information Webinar on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 11 am US/Eastern Daylight Time.

While there is much talk of altmetrics as a potential source of valuable data for impact assessment and attention monitoring, what are campuses actually doing with this kind of data? This webinar is dedicated to a short overview of what altmetrics are and then a discussion with Scott Taylor, from the Research Services team at the University of Manchester Library, who will share his experience of adopting and rolling out altmetrics across campus using the Altmetric for Institutions (AFI) platform.  Scott will discuss what motivated him to implement this new tool, how he  hopes altmetrics can help his faculty and administrators achieve their goals, and the feedback he's received so far from stakeholders at his university.

Sara Rouhi is Altmetric's Product Specialist and Sales Manager for North America. Based in Washington DC she regularly speaks around the globe on scholarly communications, metrics and impact, and the publishing process.

Scott Taylor has worked in public and academic libraries since 2004 and is currently a Research Services Librarian at The University of Manchester Library, UK. Scott has been significantly involved in the development of services in support of both Gold and Green Open Access at Manchester. Most recently, he provides advice and training on matters relating to the citation performance of research outputs. His special interests include the latest developments in scholarly communications and particularly the measurement of research reach and impact.
