About CINF

Information Is a Strategic Resource

Information and information technology are recognized as essential ingredients critical to effective and successful research. On an even broader scale they have been identified by the U.S. Government as the foundation for the National Competitiveness Act of 1993- the two success factors for maintaining U.S. international leadership.

Increasing use of information in combination with today's rapidly evolving technology is changing the way research is conducted and the way in which information is perceived, accessed, and used. An awareness and understanding of these changes and how they can be leveraged to improve the research process are critical to success in a global scientific community.

The Division of Chemical Information (CINF) of the American Chemical Society is the source for maintaining professional competency in information resources, information technology, and information policy. No other ACS Division is as relevant to the professional lives of all researchers involved in any aspect of chemical research. As one of approximately 1,400 divisional members and affiliates, you will learn about the most current developments and practical application in producing, accessing, and using chemical information.
